THE ARGENTINIAN EMPHASISED HIS CONVICTION ON THE TEAM IN A WELL RESOLVED MATCH

Simeone: “We have a long way to go, but we trust our work”

Diego Pablo Simeone claimed in the newsroom that “the atmosphere” lived in the Vicente Calderón “was decisive” to move on to semifinals. Now more than ever, the team must “keep working with humility”.

Simeone praised the atmosphere in the stands and assured that for his players, “the atmosphere in the stands was decisive”. “People were fantastic. The ambiance was lovely. Most probably, it didn’t influence Barcelona’s hierarchy and capacity because their players are used to these kind of matches. It certainly influenced ours, it was decisive. There was a lot of positive energy and the atmosphere in the stands was wonderful”, he claimed.

Simeone explained our team’s approach, “We laid out a two part match. The first one in their box, when the goalkeeper served a goal-kick, with an intense pressure, and on the counter, where we could benefit. And the second one, when they escaped the pressure, retreating, waiting at the back and closing ranks. The match was well worked and well resolved”, he said.
