Simeone: “The lads played a fantastic game”
Our coach, Saúl, Lemar, Giménez and Thomas spoke after Saturday’s win at Alavés.
Simeone on Saturday praised his players following the win against Alavés.
“We needed to play well against a team that is fighting to qualify for the Champions League, and the lads played a fantastic match. It was one of our best away performances of the season,” the Argentine said.
Our coach also urged our team to keep fighting.
“We have to keep fighting for LaLiga until the end,” Simeone said.
Saúl was happy about the team’s performance and his goal.
“We knew that this was a very complicated stadium. We struggled a lot the last two years. Today we were better tactically and very effective. The goal is very important for me,” our midfielder said.
Lemar spoke about his assist for Morata's goal.
“Morata is a great striker. He made a good run, I gave him a nice pass and he scored. It's all good for the team," the Frenchman said.
Giménez was already thinking about the next match.
"This is a team of fighters. We're not going to give up. We're already thinking about Girona, who have always made things difficult for us," the Uruguayan said.
Thomas thanked the fans for their reaction to his goal.
"I'm very happy and I thank everyone that applauded me. It gives me strength to keep going. I've scored similar goals before and I'm working hard," our midfielder said.
