Simeone: "It's a good step, but more needs to be done"
Atletico coach was very satisfied by the second half of his men, but appealed for caution after the win at San Siro.
Simeone analysed the first leg of the knockout stages of the Champions League after the victoy in Milan. "The game started well, the first few minutes were good, but we lost ground and started to allow Milans individuals chances. The second half was played more aggressively and changed the fate of the match. In football it is important to score the goal and we went for it."
The technician reviewed the tactics of both sides, "On the right they played with a lot of people and the five in the middle, in the second half we were able to adjust the situation. From there we felt that the team was better." He spoke about the performance of Courtois "in the first half, and in the second the whole team played well and Costa took the opportunity that he had. These qualifiers are defined by actions of different players. Costa and Courtois did very well."
In terms of changes chosen by the Argentine he admitted that "we saw the game was broken and we brought on Cristian and Adrian because I wanted speed. I have no commitment to anyone, we were hoping and looking to win. We wanted to exploit their speed in any situation. That's what we try to do."
Finally, the technician showed caution despite the victory. "Absolute tranquility, we know that the Champions League is difficult, it is a good step but it remains to be played in the Calderon. The result was good but we can not write off a team like Milan, we must work to move forward," he said.
