We will pay tribute to José Eulogio Gárate in our club membership cards for the 2018/19 season
Gárate won the Pichichi trophy 50 years ago and we’d like to pay a special tribute to our legendary striker.
Our club is going to pay tribute to our history and one of our legends in the 2018/19’s club membership cards. For the upcoming season, we’ll homage José Eulogio Gárate, who won the Pichichi trophy 50 years ago.
In the 1968-69 season, Gárate scored 14 goals in the league season and finished as the top goalscorer of the national competition. It was the first of three consecutive Pichichi trophies for our legendary striker. His goals and his talented way of playing have always placed him as one of the best forwards for all the ‘atléticos’. Now, all fans will be proud to have the figure of our historic player on their membership cards remembering a bit of our history.
Our history is very present in the Wanda Metropolitano, with continuous references to the players who created it as the Paseo de las Leyendas, the dressing room area, the players' access to the stadium, the main avenue named after Luis Aragonés… And now you will also always carry with you a piece of red and white history.
