On the hunt for our third straight win in LALIGA
Atlético de Madrid take on Getafe in a new league derby this Sunday afternoon.
Following our Champions League fixture in midweek, we are back in LALIGA action when we travel to the Coliseum to take on Getafe at 14:00 CET this Sunday. Guillermo Cuadra Fernández will referee the fixture.
The Rojiblancos are looking for their third consecutive win in LALIGA, in which they currently sit in second place, a point behind FC Barcelona, after wins against Athletic Club (1-0) and Valencia (3-0). Furthermore, Diego Pablo Simeone’s men are currently on a six-game unbeaten run in the Spanish top flight and haven’t lost in any of their last eleven trips to the Coliseum in LALIGA.
In addition, this will be our third meeting with José Bordalás’ side in competitive football this season. In the reverse fixture at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Atleti won as Alexander Sørloth bagged the only goal of the game. Then, the two Madrid teams went head to head in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, with Atleti running out 5-0 winners – also at home.
Getafe, meanwhile, go into this local derby in 14th place in the table on 30 points. Despite having narrowly lost to Leganés and Real Betis in their most recent outings, Bordalás’ side had, prior to that, gone six league games without a loss (W4, D2). Furthermore, the Azulones have the second-best defence in the league this season, with just 21 goals conceded in 26 games – fewer only than us (16 conceded).
Let’s get that third consecutive LALIGA win!
