Oblak reaches the same number of appearances as Collar
The Slovenian goalkeeper reaches 470 appearances for the club, tying with Enrique Collar as the player with the fourth highest number of appearances in Atlético de Madrid’s history.
Thanks to his start on Sunday at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, in the match against Osasuna, Jan Oblak has now made 470 appearances wearing our jersey. This milestone means that he is now level when it comes to number of appearances with one of our great legends, Enrique Collar, as the fourth most capped player in Atlético de Madrid’s history.
Additionally, Oblak holds the title of most capped foreign player for the club, and his number keeps rising. After joining our club on 16 July, 2014, he made his debut on September 16 of the same year in a Champions League match against Greek side Olympiacos. Spending over a decade her, he has delivered some unforgettable performances which have earned him the Zamora prize five times, a place in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season in 2015/16 and 2016/17 as well as the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season in 2017/18. Furthermore, he has become a star with his national team, Slovenia, even captaining them and playing in the recent UEFA European Championship in Germany last summer. He has won an impressive range of trophies, including a Spanish Super Cup (2014), a Europa League (2018), UEFA Super Cup (2018) and the 2020/21 LaLiga title.
