Oblak, 100 appearances for Atlético de Madrid in Europe
The first-leg of the Champions League Round of 16 was special for Jan Oblak has he played his 100th match for Atlético de Madrid in European competitions.
Jan Oblak continues to cement legendary status as a player for Atlético de Madrid. Against Real Madrid, he played his 100th game wearing our jersey in European competitions. Oblak has played a total of 478 for our club, being the player with the fourth most appearances in all competitions. He is on the verge of overtaking Tomás Reñones, who has the third most appearances with 483.
In European competitions, Oblak is the player with the second highest number of appearances in the ranking and is only behind our Captain, Koke, who has played 133 matches in the Champions League, Europa League and European Super Cup.
In addition, Oblak has made the most appearances as a foreign player for our club, and this doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon. He arrived at the club on 16 July 2014 and made his debut on September 16 of the same year in a Champions League clash against Olympiacos. After a decade here, he has left his mark with a number of unforgettable performances which have helped him win the Zamora prize on five occasions, be part of the team of the season for the UEFA Champions League 2015/16 and 2016/17 and the UEFA Europa League 2017/18 and feature with his national side, Slovenia. He is the captain for his National Team and played in the most recent European Champions in Germany last summer. He boasts a brilliant trophy cabinet, having won the Supercopa de España (2014), Europa League (2018), European Supercup (2018) and LaLiga 2020/21.
