PREVIEW | MATCHDAY 36

Objective: another win at the El Sadar

After securing qualification for next year’s Champions League with the win against Real Sociedad, Atlético visit El Sadar in a bid to beat Osasuna on Thursday 15 (19:00 CEST).

Atlético de Madrid are aiming to finish the season in the best way possible, fighting to climb up another spot in the standings and to secure three victories in the three remaining matches to put a positive finishing touch on the LaLiga EA Sports campaign. In this third to last match of the season, we will visit El Sadar, a stadium where we have had good results since Los Navarros returned to the top-flight. Since the 2019/20 season, we have won on all of our five trips to the stadium.

In the 2019/20 season, we won 0-5, followed by a 1-3 win the next season, when we won our eleventh league title. In the 2021/22 season we won in convincing fashion, 0-3. We repeated the triumph the following season by winning 0-1. Finally, last season, we won 0-2 thanks to goals from Griezmann and Riquelme.

Osasuna come into the match after a 1-1 draw against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarín and a 4-2 loss away to Villarreal on the matchday prior. Los Navarros are in the fight for Europe, as they currently sit two points behind Rayo Vallecano who are in eighth place, giving them access to the Conference League. They also sit just four points behind Celta, who are seventh and currently hold a spot for the Europa League. This is something which makes Osasuna even more dangerous coming into this match.

Our team will want to finish the season well away from home, as they will have to play two of their remaining three games in LaLiga EA Sports on the road, this match in Pamplona and the final game in Girona. In our most recent away matches, we were not able to secure a win as we drew 0-0 against Alavés in Vitoria and lost 1-0 to Las Palmas at Estadio de Gran Canaria.
