Objective: another win against Celta
Atlético de Madrid will look to continue their good run of form by aiming for a win against Celta at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, this Saturday on 15th February (18:30 CET) in LaLiga EA Sports.
The team have avoided participating in any midweek matches after advancing directly to the Champions League Round of 16 as the team finished in fifth place during the League Phase. With this objective reached, Diego Pablo Simeone has been able to fully prepare his side for the visit of Celta de Vigo to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
After the draw at the Bernabéu, the team took two days off to rest ahead of the upcoming fixtures, with the first being against Claudio Giráldez’s side. Giráldez was part of the Academia during his playing career, and also played for Atlético B. Celta come into this clash in great spirits following their brilliant comeback against Betis on the most recent matchday. Los Celestes were 0-2 down going into the break, but then with two goals in the space of two minutes, they set the game up perfectly to make it 3-2 in the 87th minute.
Celta had been struggling with a poor run of results previously. After beating Real Sociedad (2-0) at Balaídos, they suffered three defeats, against Rayo (2-1), Athletic (1-2) and Valencia (2-1), with a draw in Vitoria against Alavés (1-1) in between. Now, however, the win against Betis has given them an extra boost and will certainly make them more dangerous.
In terms of our form, following the defeat to Leganés, the team have been growing and growing, defeating Bayer Leverkusen (2-1) and RB Salzburg (1-4) in the Champions League, drawing against Villarreal (1-1) and Real Madrid (1-1) and beating Mallorca (2-0) in LaLiga, as well as putting five past Getafe in Copa del Rey. Now, following the stalemate at the Bernabéu, the team have been able to prepare for the clash against Celta without any interruptions during the week.
