MATCH RECAP

Narrow defeat against Inter

A lone goal by Lautaro Martínez gave Inter the win. Nikola Kalinic came on in the 62nd minute and made his unofficial debut for our club.

Our team suffered a close defeat in our final preseason friendly. Inter won the match at the Wanda Metropolitano thanks to Lautaro Martínez’ goal in the first half. However, our boys put up a fight throughout the 90 minutes.

Just minutes before the first half was coming to an end, Ángel Correa scored to put us level. However the goal was ruled out after the referee reviewed it through VAR. Filipe Luis also had a good chance to score following a great play by Thomas Lemar, but his shot wasn’t on target.

In the second half, our boss made numerous changes and introduced Rodrigo, Savic, Montero, L. Hernandez, Arias, Olabe, Gelson, Griezmann, Vitolo and Kalinic.

It was Kalinic’ unofficial debut for our club and he played roughly 30 minutes.

Before coming off, Juanfran had a good chance to equalize but an Inter defender sent the ball out for a corner kick. In the 89th minute Vitolo nearly equalized, but Handanovic came out with a huge save.

Our players kept looking for the equalizer, but it wasn’t meant to be. Our next match will be on the 15th for the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid in Tallinn, Estonia.
