Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, Atlético's CEO, has checked on site how the Atlético academy, created two years ago in Mexico DF, works.
The football academy that Atlético de Madrid has in Mexico DF has had a very special visit. Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has been with the young players and the coaches of the academy, which has been working for two years. But this academy is divided into four locations: two in Mexico Distrito Federal (Sporting Banrural and Cuahtemoc Delegation), another in the State of Mexico (Ecatepec de Morelos) and another in the state of Baja California (Mexicalli). Furthermore, there are three new upcoming openings planned: in the State of Mexico (Naucalpan de Juárez), in the State of Aguascalientes and another in the State of Chihuahua. The sporting project of this academy has two areas: on the one hand, the professional development of the player or high performance; and, on the other hand, the training of initiation to football.
Now, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has been able to check, first-hand, the great work the Club is carrying out in Mexico with this academy. The red and white Academy is one of the pillars of the Club's international growth, an instrument to introduce our brand in new markets and that has considered that Mexico is a strategic place for the Club's expansion. Within their plan of expansion and exporting their model of training, they are seeking a growth opportunity while at the same time contributing to improve the level of football in other countries and search for new talents. In addition, it happens that Atlético de Madrid's first team has one of Mexico's football jewels in their ranks, the forward Raúl Jiménez, and another rising star, the youth Diego Gama, who plays in Atlético de Madrid’s Youth top-flight.
