Miguel Ángel Gil, appointed member of UEFA Executive Committee
Our CEO joins the decision-making body of European football's governing body.
Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, CEO of our club, has been appointed member of the UEFA Executive Committee, at the 48th Ordinary Congress that the highest European football body held this Thursday, 8 February, at the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris.
Born in 1963 in Madrid, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, who joined Atlético de Madrid in 1993 as general manager, has been the CEO of our club since February 2002 and majority shareholder for the last 20 years. He is also currently first vice-president of LaLiga and a member of both the board of the European Club Association (ECA) - the only Spaniard alongside Jokin Aperribay - and the executive committee of this body - the only Spaniard on it.
Chaired by Aleksander Čeferin, the UEFA Executive Committee is UEFA's decision-making body and is composed of 20 members, including the UEFA president himself. Miguel Ángel Gil replaces Karl Heinz Rummenige in this position and will serve for a term of four years.
