Luis García: “Quique has made a phenomenal change in the team with two titles”
“Atlético will come to play against us wounded”
Luis García, manager of Levante, assured that Atlético de Madrid, their league opponent on Saturday, will arrive in Valencia wounded after their last two losses, in Europe and in the national competition, and highlighted their potential in attack.
“They’ve lost two in-a-row at home and will come wounded, because their participation in Europe has become complicated. They’re demanded to play in Champions League because they’re a team made to be near the top. Quique has made a phenomenal change in the team with two titles last year,” he stated.
The Levante head coach emphasized, above the rest of the team, Atlético de Madrid’s attacking footballers. “Their players up front are amongst the best in Spain, if you take away Madrid and Barça, they’re the best. They’re one of the big clubs along with Villarreal and Valencia. Kun and Forlán are capable of driving any defence mad,” he insisted.
Furthermore, the Levante manager referred to his past at the side from Madrid, where he played in the junior categories. “As a youngster, my mother took me to see Atlético, always to suffer, and I wish them the best, that they win titles and are in Champions League, but in the two matches against Levante and everything goes wrong and that they lose,” he joked.
“Since we’ve already gotten out of relegation spots, hopefully we’ll never fall back into them, but it’s going to be very tough. But any team that is there near the bottom always has more negative than positive results,” he assured.
Concerning the numerous injuries that his team is suffering from, Luis García stated that the participation of Ecuatorian Felipe Caicedo in the match “will depend on his will,” as it’s a knock to the ankle, and he confirmed that Asier del Horno will do everything he can to be ready if David Cerrajería ‘Cerra’ doesn’t recover in time.
