Luis Aragonés will be with us in Lisbon
His name will be on the inside of the shirts’ neck we’ll wear when trying to win our history’s first Champions League.
After making it to the Champions League final, all the members of our first team knew for certain that they wanted the figure of Luis Aragonés to be with them in Lisbon. He was one of the biggest legends of our club who died recently, but who’s still alive in the hearts of the entire Atlético family, and who was the author of the goal we scored in the only European Cup final we’ve played so far, in 1974.
Because of this, the players immediately moved to have this beautiful initiative of wearing the name of Luis on the neck inside of the shirts they’ll play the final in, to the Club’s board of directors, which was delighted with the idea and accepted it with no hesitation. This request was moved directly to the UEFA and its President Michel Platini, had the sensitivity to accept it, understanding the meaning for all the Atléticos of having Luis Aragonés present in our kit. In addition and exceptionally, the maximum European organization also accepted the Club’s request to play in Atlético’s red and white shirt at the Estadio Da Luz, despite being the visitors.
