Atlético de Kolkata debuts in the Indian Super League

The Asian competition begins this Sunday, October 12th and is made up of a total of eight teams. There will be semi-finals and a final, scheduled for December 20th.

The first edition of the Indian Super League will begin this Sunday, October 12th, when Atlético de Kolkata will make their debut. The team coached by Antonio López will face Mumbai City FC at Salt Lake Stadium. All the matches of the day will start at 19:00 local time (15:30 CET).

In addition to Atlético de Kolkata, in this new tournament, the following teams will participate: Delhi Dynamos, FC Goa, North East United Guwahati, Kerala Blasters Kochi, Mumbai City FC, FC Pune City and Club Chennai. Atlético de Kolkata opens the Indian Super League on October 12th, when they’ll receive Mumbai City FC at their home at Salt Lake Stadium.

This format includes a seeding of the teams to play that ended on July 25th, with the participation of six of the eight teams that make up the competition, where 14 national players, seven foreigners, and one 'important football player' were selected in draft order by each Club.

A total of 61 matches will be played, spread through 70 days of intense league competition. There will be 56 matches in the home and away format. The four best teams will face off in two semi-finals starting December 13th. Lastly, the final will be played on a neutral field on Sunday, December 20th.
