Koke plays 100th league game

Jorge Resurrection Merodio 'Koke' clocked up his hundredth game in League in the win against Rayo Vallecano. Standard and pride of the red and white academy, the midfielder is now one of the mainstays of the team. Congratulations, genius!

Koke at 22 years grows and grows, with his feet on the floor. Our youth completed 100 games in the Vallecas Stadium, his hundredth game with the red and white shirt in the top division celebrating with victory 2-4 and playing 90 minutes in the contest.

Since his emergence in the first team, Koke has not stopped growing. The youth’s league debut was on September 19th 2009 under the command of Abel Resino, although in that season the midfielder only played four games. The 2010/2011 season was key in the development of our player. After an almost unprecedented first round, the Spaniard was consolidated in the team in the second half of the season helping the team in 17 matches.

With the arrival of Diego Pablo Simeone to the bench, Koke exploded. With the full confidence of the Argentine coach, the vallecano showed all the technical fundamentals and that most brilliant tactical knowledge. In the 2011/2012 season he participated in 25 games, while in 2012/2013 he played 33 for Atlético. This season, their weight in the team has continued ascending and he is the only player to have played every game in all the competitions.

In these 100 league games, our midfielder has scored 11 goals and has 25 assists in the league, including 11 last season and 9 of them this season with the second round of this season left to play.
