Koke continues to break records as a Rojiblanco
Our captain reached another milestone yesterday by becoming the Atlético de Madrid player to have faced Real Madrid the most times in LaLiga (28). He has also become the Rojiblanco player to have won the most derbies (14) across all competitions.
Koke wrote another page in the history of Atlético de Madrid yesterday. Our captain has become the Atlético de Madrid player to have faced Real Madrid the most times in LaLiga while wearing our colours. He has done so on 28 occasions, overtaking another great legend, Adelardo Rodríguez, who did so in 27 matches.
Having played in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid, with the goals coming from Grimaldo and Jonathan David, Koke also became the Rojiblanco player to have beaten Real Madrid the most times in our history: 14 across all competitions. Among these victories are several matches that have added to our Club’s honours.
The first came on 17 May 2013, in the Copa del Rey final that we won against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. Koke started the match and provided the assist for João Miranda who headed home the decisive goal. In August 2015, we faced Los Blancos again, this time in the Spanish Super Cup final. Once again, we lifted the trophy, with Koke starting both matches (at the time, the competition was played over two legs).
Koke also started the 2018 UEFA Super Cup final, when we lifted the trophy after beating Real Madrid 4-2, with Atlético’s goals coming from Diego Costa (2), Saúl and Koke himself in the 104th minute.
Congratulations, Koke!
