Juanfran: "I am convinced that you will see the best Atletico and we will win"
Juanfran Torres appeared for the media and spoke of the importance of the Getafe match, in which he is convinced we will see the best version of Atletico and, of course, the victory.
The Spanish international Juanfran commented that "I was hopefully that I’d be involved in the last squad but it wasn’t to be. The coach made the decision and I have to do much better than how I’m doing. But I still think I'm a team player and I will return to the national side, sooner or later. I'll keep working to make things better because if what I'm doing is not enough, I have to do a lot better."
Diego Pablo Simeone praised Juanfran for his good work in the press conference on Wednesday. The Atletico International thanked the gaffer for his support because "he has great confidence in me and I thank him for those words. What I have to do is answer on the field. I hope to be one of the best players in these last nine games, to end the season well and get back in to the national side"
The full back said, "This squad is psyched to win all our remaining matches. We want to be as high as possible and start winning everything starting on Sunday at Getafe. We want to win our remaining nine games of the season. We want to be ambitious and arrive at the cup final in the best shape possible. We have to win at Getafe and have a great game because it will be difficult."
In regards to Sunday's game at Getafe, Juanfran commented that "Getafe has a great team with great players, they’re very good from set pieces and have a great coach, sure they will pose a tough game. To win at Getafe we have to have a great game and be at our best. I believe that you are going to see the best Atletico and we will win."
With regard to finsihing second in the league, the Alicante was blunt in stating that "if we win nine remaining games we will be safe."
He was asked about the defence of Atletico Madrid, Juanfran said "I am proud of the team and how we work. The coach is happy in that aspect with all the work we do. We have a great goalkeeper, great defences, it also helps to have good forwards...I think when you're the team that has conceded the least amount of goals, it is due to the work of the whole team. We try to score as many goals as possible and concede as few as possible. It is an important fact for people that we’ve conceded the fewest goals in the league. Hopefully it stays that way until the end of season."
Being second or third in the league has a logical explanation for Juanfran. "When you’re third in the league, you want to be second, and when you’re second, you want to be first. If we were 3 points behind Barca, we’d be looking to win the championship. In terms of history and prestige, Atletico have to be among the best and the higher the better for everyone" he said.
