Jorge Pulido: 'We have to beat Espanyol to keep fighting for Europe'
“I’m an ‘atlético’ and I’m working hard to be in the first squad”
Jorge Pulido attended to the media on Thursday, April 14, and the home-grown product commented on his impressions regarding the situations of the first and second teams, in addition to appearing excited about making a permanent spot for himself in the ‘rojiblanco’ first squad for next season. “If we win the next match we’ll have plenty of chances to qualify for the Europa League, but we have to go step-by-step by beating Espanyol and then we’ll look ahead,” he stated.
Concerning the inconsistent season of the reserve squad, Pulido assured that “we’re having a tough season; last year we almost made the playoffs for promotion and this year we’ve gone to fighting to avoid relegation. We’re now won three games on-the-trot and now we’re hoping to beat Pontevedra and being able to relax a bit.”
On a personal note, the young Atleti center back assured that he doesn’t feel strange about training with the first team and playing with the reserves, although he asserted that his goal is make himself a spot in the first squad. “Any player can adapt to any situation and this year this is what the situation has been for me. I train with the first squad every day and when I have to play with Atlético B, I already know all my teammates from junior categories, so it’s not a big change for me. My goal is to help the reserves avoid relegation and then we’ll see what happens for next year. I’m an ‘atlético’ and I continue to work hard to make myself a spot in the first squad,” he wrapped up.
