The Argentina coach said at a press conference that the lasting memory of Luis Aragones leaves the red and white family and the world of football. He also referred to the signing of Diego Ribas and the Liga match against Real Sociedad.
Simeone appeared before the media with great admiration for Luis Aragones after his death. "I have great respect for Luis. When I mentioned the possibility that I had to go to Atletico Madrid, he replied: 'and what are you waiting for?' I understand. If it happened to me now I’d say the same". The technician said he was "a great guy, a great man. He leaves great memories shared with him from moments of life and football. From here I want to send a very strong message to his family. Everyone at Atletico is hurting at the loss of such an important part of the club and for the Spanish football".
As for what he brought to the world of football, Simeone is clear: "Rebellion and he broke the difficulties Spain always had to win. He showed the way, he showed that you could. Spain was no longer a possibility it became a reality.”
On the arrival of Diego Ribas, Simeone said that "he is something important for the team. It was great work by the sports management team, an important proposal to keep trying to improve. Diego can give us alternatives, we already know him as a footballer. Now he needs to show all that illusion he has on the pitch."
Finally, referring to the game against Real Soceidad, Simeone has recognized that "the League is everything for us. We have a tough game ahead, against a good opponent which has very good offensive combinations with good strikers and good set pieces. One of the best virtues they have is the counter attack. That makes them a dangerous team," he said.
