HELD AT PARIS' GRAND PALAIS

Griezmann makes 2018 Ballon d'Or podium; Lucas Hernandez, Lemar honoured in France Football gala

Griezmann was Ballon d'Or finalist and was honoured alongside Lucas, Lemar and the rest of the French national team in recognition to the country's World Cup win.

Our players Antoine Griezmann, Lucas Hernandez and Thomas Lemar were honoured alongside their France national team teammates on Monday in recognition to their performance in 2018 at the France Football gala in Paris' Grand Palais. Griezmann made the Ballon d'Or podium with Cristiano Ronaldo and winner Luka Modric.

Club President Enrique Cerezo accompanied our players to the gala, and praised Griezmann's fantastic year.

"We're very proud of the excellent 2018 that Antoine Griezmann has had. Our player has been key to our team's Europa League and UEFA Super Cup and is the leader of the France team that won the World Cup. We're happy to have him at our club," Cerezo said.

Griezmann spoke about his year and thanked his teammates for their help.

"I'm very happy with the year I've had. It's difficult to be here and therefore I'm thankful to my teammates and very proud of my job. I hope to continue this way. It's an honour to be among the finalists," our number 7 said.

Antoine Griezmann has had an exceptional 2018, in which he has helped our team to win the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup, as well as winning World Cup with France. The Frenchman was key with two goals in the Europa League final in Lyon and another one in the World Cup final. Our number 7 was named best player of the Europa League and the World Cup final. Truly a year to remember.

The French national team was also honoured during the gala due to their World Cup win. Griezmann, Lemar and Lucas Hernandez attended the event with their France teammates. Our three players won the title, making Atleti the team with the most World Cup winners in the planet.
