Going for a second win in the Champions League
Atlético de Madrid visit Benfica at the Estadio Da Luz (21:00 local time) this Wednesday for the second matchday of the Champions League league phase.
After victory against RB Leipzig at the Cívitas Metropolitano in the opening game, thanks to goals from Griezmann and Giménez, Diego Pablo Simeone's side will be looking for another win this Wednesday against a Benfica team who also kicked off their campaign with three points, when goals from Aktürkoglu and Kökçu helped them overcome Red Star 2-1 in Belgrade. In this new league format of the Champions League, every win is vital to secure the highest possible standing and reach the next round.
The match will be officiated by Dutch referee Serdar Gözübüyük, who will be assisted by fellow Dutchmen Erwin Zeinstra and Johan Balder, while the fourth official will be Richard Wilhelmus Martens, also from the Netherlands.
