Godín: “We deserved it; today, football was fair”
Diego Godín scored the tying goal at Camp Nou that won the League title to an Atlético de Madrid that was the fair champion, 18 years later.
Diego Godín was the goal’s maker, shortly after starting the second half, that levelled the fight and gave the League title to Atlético de Madrid. The Uruguayan midfield stated in Canal Plus, “It’s Atlético de Madrid’s League. We’ve fought all year long, we’ve done an incredible job standing 38 rounds against teams such as Madrid and Barça and in the end we’ve reaped our benefits”.
Atlético’s midfield noted, “We deserved it, today football was fair”.
Regarding the Diego Costa and Arda Turan’s injuries at the beginning of the game, he said, “It was hard because of the pressure. Lots of things can work against you but we deserved this League”.
