THE FULL BACK PRAISED THE HUNGER IN THE SQUAD

Filipe: "We play every game as if it is a final"

Filipe Luis spoke to the media in the press room at Cerro del Espino. Pleased with the progress of the team, the Brazilian looks forward to working like this and hopes to continue with the same results "very excited to stay at the top".

Simeone's philosophy has penetrated deep into the red and white dressing room. Filipe said that against Getafe, the team will respond as if it were "a final" "Knowing the coach and his philosophy, we go in to every game like a final. Right now I’m just thinking about Getafe, this week we only talk about that. The coaching staff is instilling us how they want us to play and how we behave on the field." He added that "the squad is big and has cover for all these games that are very close together. We’re looking forward to stay at the top."

Filipe is using the break to rest from the heavy workload this season. However, the player did not deny that he would have loved to not have had to have stopped and played with his national side. "A break is good for two things, because if you go with the national team, you have the opportunity to play international games and if you ton’t get picked it not good as everyone wants to play with the national team. Looking at the positives, it is good that you can rest your body which is important because of the number of game and the workload we have. But we always wants to play and look forward and hope that we get to play these games coming up," he said .

The left full back spoke of the world cup and analysed the difficulties that European teams will have with the climate in his country. "When you start to play football, all around the world it is played in the same way, with a ball and two goals. If you watch on television you see that European football is different because of the climate. Countries in Europe live football in a different way to Brazil and Argentina, because there football is a religion. What is clear is that the weather greatly influences and the European teams will find it difficult, that does not mean they are not favorites for the final victory," he said.

Finally, Filipe Luis supported the decision of teammate Diego Costa to play with Spain. "I understand one hundred percent Diego Costa’s decision. I was in the same situation a short time ago and made a decision that has marked my career. The team has many factors but the decision is based on the professional level and I think that Diego Costa in Spain is very important, he is highly valued and is going to feel very important in the squad. He has gone through bad times because was a very difficult decision and I hope that people value it because it has not been easy either for himself or for his family. These are decisions that must be respected," he said.
