Following wins against PSV (3-2) in the Champions League, in LaLiga against Valencia (2-1), and in the Copa del Rey against Atlético Baleares (3-2), Simeone's men will attempt to secure the last three points of the year away at Girona. At the moment, Atlético sit in fourth in the league table with 34 points.
Girona find themselves 18th in the league table with 15 points. However, Míchel's team got an important win in their last match in San Sebastián against Real Sociedad thanks to a Viktor Tsygankov brace, which saw them complete the comeback to win 2-1.
Atlético will attempt to repeat what happened the last time they played at Montilivi. In that game, played last May, they won 4-0 thanks to a Sørloth hat-trick and a goal from Lenglet.
