Derby in Jeddah
The Rojiblancos go in search of a spot in the Supercopa de España final when they take on Real Madrid in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, 8 January
The Madrid derby is upon us, and what a way to start 2026. The Rojiblancos will take on Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España semi-final at 20:00 CET. The game will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and it is the first chance for silverware in the new year.
Last time out, we came away from San Sebastián with a point after drawing with Real Sociedad in our first league fixture of the calendar year. Real Madrid, on the other hand, smashed five past Real Betis in a big win. Simeone’s men have won each of their last two meetings with their local rivals: 1-0 in the return leg of last season’s Champions League quarter-final and 5-2 in the league at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in September.
The other Supercopa de España semi-final sees Athletic Club take on FC Barcelona. Jeddah is the setting for a competition that brings together the four best sides in Spain.
