Basilio: "We’ll go match-by-match for the Super League"
Basilio said that the concentration of Atlético de Kolkata in Los Ángeles de San Rafael has helped the team be prepared for the beginning of the Indian Super League next weekend.
Basilio commented to the red and white web that "it’s an important challenge to play outside of Spain. It’s a new experience and I’m facing it with a lot of eagerness and enthusiasm."
The goalkeeper pointed out that "we’ve been told very good things about what we’ll find in India. We’ll discover another culture and live a special experience. We had a great reception upon our arrival and they told us that the first match will fill up the stadium, which holds about 120,000 viewers. We want to do well."
Regarding the objective, Basilio is clear about it. "We’ll see how the beginning of the season goes, but our objective is to compete to win the title. We defend the colours of Atlético de Madrid and we must go out to win. We need to think match-by-match and see how we face the championship. But nobody will doubt that we’ll go out and give our best in every match," he said.
He considers the pre-season has been good and positive to prepare for the Indian Super League. "I see the team is doing well. We have adapted to our teammates and things are working out. Until you adapt to the team, it’s more complicated, but with a methodology and a lot of tactics, we are becoming a good group and we’re preparing well," he said.
Having a coach like Antonio López Habas, with experience in international football is important. Basilio believes that "he has a lot of experience and we’ll be prepared for this new challenge."
