PREVIEW | ATLÉTICO DE MADRID - ESPANYOL

All out for the win against Espanyol

This Saturday at 21:00 CET, we are set to take on Manolo González’s side in matchday 25 of LaLiga EA Sports.

Atlético de Madrid face a new league challenge this Saturday, 21 February, against RCD Espanyol at 21:00 CET at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Diego Simeone’s side are hoping to return to winning ways in domestic competition after their last two setbacks against Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano.

The Rojiblancos head into this crucial league showdown after drawing (3–3) in the Champions League against Club Brugge, with everything to play for in the second leg, which is scheduled for next Tuesday, 24 February. But before that European fixture, we face RCD Espanyol, a side led by Manolo González, that have secured points in their last two matches at our home. In the first half of the season, they also beat us 2–1, coming from behind after Julián Álvarez opened the scoring.

The Catalan side have secured just two points out of a potential 21 at the start of 2026, the most recent coming from their 2–2 draw with Celta de Vigo on the last matchday. Despite these numbers, Espanyol are sixth in the table, ten points behind Atleti and in the European places, thanks to an incredible first half of the season.

With the Rojiblanco fans behind us, the team are hoping to secure a win and turn the Riyadh Air Metropolitano into a fortress once again.
