Atleti to face C.D. Guadalajara, Real Madrid, Juventus in the International Champions Cup
Our team is to participate in the seventh edition of the International Champions Cup, the prestigious summer tournament in which some of the best sides in the world participate.
Atleti are to participate in the seventh edition of the International Champions Cup during the upcoming pre-season. Organised by Relevent Sports, it’s the most important annual summer football tournament and the best teams in the world take part in it.
The ICC announced the competition’s games during an event in New York on Wednesday. Our team will face C.D. Guadalajara, Real Madrid and Juventus.
We will make our debut in the 2019 ICC in Arlington, Texas against C.D. Guadalajara on July 23. Our second match is to be played against Real Madrid in New Jersey on July 26 and our last game is to take place on August 10 in Stockholm against Juventus.
The winner of each match will earn three points. If the game ends in a draw, there will be a penalty shootout and the winner will earn two points and the loser, one. If a team loses in regulation time, they won’t earn any points. Since every team that participates in the 2019 ICC will play three games, the side that earns the most points will win the prestigious tournament.
This is to be the third time our team participates in the competition, having done so in 2016 in Australia, where we faced Tottenham in Melbourne and Melbourne Victory in Geelong, and in 2018, in which we played PSG and Arsenal in Singapore and Inter Milan at the Wanda Metropolitano.
