Atleti lost 2-1 at Sevilla on Saturday despite creating many chances to win the game. Felipe scored for us, but an early and a late goal from the hosts decided the match.

We started well and collected the few chances of the game. Correa almost scored a worldie as he tried to lob the keeper from 40 metres. The ball flew over the crossbar, but not by much. Unfortunately, the hosts scored in their attempt through a spectacular long-range strike from Rakitic. It was unfortunate, but our team reacted well. Lemar tried his luck from the edge of the box, forcing a good save from Bono. But we kept trying until we found the equaliser – which we did in the 34th minute. Lemar took a corner and Felipe headed home from close range. We did suffer another setback before the break, though, as Llorente was forced to leave the pitch and was replaced by De Paul. We eventually reached half-time with the score at 1-1.

João Félix came on for Correa after the break, and our team enjoyed a good start to the second half. We had a big chance very early on as Koke provided an excellent through ball for Carrasco. Unfortunately, a defender got there just in time to block the Belgian’s strike. Simeone made another substitution in the 57th minute, when Cunha replaced Suárez. Atleti attacked constantly throughout the second half as several of our players had chances to score our second – with João Félix and Carrasco coming closest. However, in their only big chance of the second half, Sevilla scored from a set piece in the 89th minute. We didn’t give up and looked for the equaliser – and we almost found it in stoppage time through a spectacular João Félix effort that hit the crossbar. Once again we were unlucky, and the game ended 2-1 in Seville.
