Aranzubia debuts with Atletico Madrid
The veteran goalkeeper completed his first game as an Atleti player. After his arrival in the summer a hand injury has kept him out.
The goalkeeper had the opportunity to debut with Atletico Madrid in a friendly match held at the New Archangel. Starting the match, Dani showed his quality in Córdoba especially from a Pacheco shot inside the area in the 30th minute.
The highly professional veteran goalkeeper has worked hard since his arrival at the club, but luck has not accompanied him in recent weeks. A hand injury has kept him out of recent squads for Diego Pablo Simeone.
With over 300 games behind him in the First Division, Dani provides great cover for Atletico Madrid and an excellent companion for Courtois . After spending most of his career in Bilbao (Athletic Club) and Corunna (Deportivo), where he played in his last five seasons, Dani decided to head for the capital in mid-August.
Among his international achievements, Aranzubia has conquered the FIFA Under 20 against Nigeria and won the silver medal in the Sydney Olympics. He also debuted with the full international team in 2004, one of the keepers chosen to participate in the European Championship held that year in Portugal.
In August 2013 the leaders of the Atletico Madrid decided that Aranzubia should be the new team goalkeeper. The 34 year old keeper said in his presentation that he had come "to a big team " to work and help his teammates.
