All out for the Copa del Rey semi-finals at La Cartuja
This Thursday at 21:00 CET we visit the Verdiblancos as we battle for a place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
The Copa del Rey quarter-finals are here, bringing with them our visit to Real Betis this Thursday from 21:00 CET. It will be the second time we face Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season and the first of two meetings this week, as the Andalusian outfit will visit our stadium this weekend in LaLiga.
We have faced the Andalusians on a total of 142 occasions, with a record of 75 wins for Atleti, 33 draws and 34 defeats. In our previous trip to Seville at the end of October, we returned home with all three points thanks to goals from Giuliano and Álex Baena (2-0).
Betis come into this tie after knocking out Elche in the round of 16 (2-1). Our team reached this stage of the competition after defeating Deportivo de La Coruña (1-0). The match could also mark a debut in red and white for new signing Ademola Lookman and Obed Vargas.
The last time our paths crossed in the knockout competition was in the 2012/13 season. On that occasion, we progressed with a 3-1 aggregate win: a 2-0 win at the Vicente Calderón, thanks to goals from Falcao and Filipe Luís, was followed by a draw in the return leg at the Benito Villamarín.
