League action returned to the Vicente Calderon and our insatiable warriors wanted to record another victory to the Atlético fans to continue dreaming at the top of the table. Two goals in the first five minutes set the team off to a great start. The first came the goal after just three minute from Raúl García who finished off a great move between Koke and Gabi to beat Marino with a shot that went in just off the post. The next move of the game resulted in the second goal of the game, this time a cross from Raul Garcia was met by Diego Costa who finshed with class from outside the area doubling the lead with just five minutes played.

The two goals were very difficult for Valladolid to take and it saw Atletico take control of the game. Simeone’s men under the control of Arda and Koke were making quick transitions with continuous runs by Diego Costa and Raul Garcia. The number 19 had another chance but this time his shot went over the bar. The visitor in the meantime failed to trouble Courtois.

The last minutes of the first half Raul Garcia had a change toad another but sides went in 2-0 to the home side.

Nothing changes in the second half. The team who looked more likely to get the next goal was Atleti with combinations from Arda and Koke who had a massive involvement in the game. The first chance of the second half came via the head of Godin, but his shot failed to beat the keeper. Immediately afterwards a shot by Javi Guerra went just over the bar of Thibaut Courtois’ goal.

In to the final third of the game when the third goal came from Diego Godin who rose above the Valladolid defense to head home a Diego corner to make it 3-0 and put a fine end to the game and signed off a great 200th game for Godin and saw Atleti return to the top of the table.
