The Argentine is a new Atleti player after our club reached an agreement with Udinese over the transfer of the midfielder.
Atlético de Madrid and Udinese have reached an agreement over the transfer of Rodrigo de Paul (Argentina, May 24, 1994). The Argentine passed his medical and has signed a five-year contract.
The midfielder is strong offensively and can score as well as providing assists for his teammates. He made his professional debut in 2013 with Racing, having previously played for the club’s youth sides. De Paul played the Torneo Final’s 19 games aged just 19, starting on both flanks. He completed another great season in Argentina before moving to Europe in 2014. There, he played two seasons at Valencia and made his Champions League debut.
The Argentine returned to his home country in 2016, where he re-joined Racing. However, after just five months, the midfielder returned to Europe and joined Udinese in summer 2016. De Paul has developed into one of Serie A’s best players – having produced 34 goals and 36 assists in 184 matches. Last season, he completed an exceptional campaign. The 27-year-old provided the second most assists in the Italian league (10), completed the most dribbles (122 out of 182) and won the most duels (289). He was also the most fouled player in the Serie A (126).
De Paul made his Argentina national team debut in 2018, has since made 28 appearances and he is 2021 Copa América champion.
