After opening their LaLiga season with a 2-0 victory over Málaga on Wednesday, courtesy of goals from Kang In and Álex Baena, Diego Simeone's side will be looking to collect another three points against Íñigo Pérez's Villarreal.
The visitors began their campaign with an away draw against Racing Santander. Goals from Gueye and Pépé overturned an early two-goal deficit, earning Villarreal their first point of the season in Íñigo Pérez's league debut as head coach.
The last meeting between the two sides at the Metropolitano ended in a 2-0 victory for Atlético, with Pablo Barrios and Nico González finding the net.
