David Villa on Wednesday announced his retirement from football at the end of the current season, which is to finish on Jan. 2, 2020 if his team – Vissel Kobe – reaches the Emperor’s Cup final. Thank you, Villa!
Villa spoke about his decision.
“I’ve decided this is the right time,” the Spaniard said during a press conference.
The striker is the Spain national team’s top scorer with 59 goals, and he played at Atlético de Madrid during the 2013/14 season, in which we won the league.
“I was there for just one season, but it was a very intense year. We won the LaLiga title and the love I’ve received from their fans after just one year will make me love them forever,” the player said about our club and fans.
Villa played 47 official matches at our club and his 15 goals were key to our team’s successes that season.
