A free kick delivered by Koke was met at the back post by Miranda who headed the ball back across the goal for the Brazilian to fire home. The goal really knocked the stuffing out of Mendilíbar’s side and put Atleti well and truly in the driving seat.
Atletico were looking to kill the game by scoring the third goal and a header from Falcao went close and Koke almost finished things off with a spectacular effort that the keeper deflected wide. The visitors managed to play out the rest of the game and collect an important 3 points coupled with a clean sheet on the road. A good result at a difficult ground like El Sadar.
