Uruguayan Diego Forlán rejoins the group work

Atlético begin to prepare for the match against Hércules

Diego Forlán rejoined the group after the unfortunate ankle sprain that had kept him away from the squad the past couple of weeks. The Uruguayan began and finished the training without incident. It was a session in which those players who started the match against Espanyol did regenerative work in the gym. Taking the Majadahonda Sports Complex fields were squad players Abel, Jiménez, Jospeh, Jarju and Celso, who joined the rest of the team to complete the practice and begin the preparation for this coming Monday’s fixture against Hércules.

Not present was Brazilian Paulo Assunçao, who was flying back to Madrid from Barcelona as the training was underway, after spending last night under observation in a Barcelona hospital after taking a blow to the head during the clash against Espanyol.

The session, which lasted a little over 90 minutes, started with part of the squad doing physical work, while goalkeepers Joel and Celso worked out with goalkeeping coach Emilio Álvarez.

Subsequently, the footballers played odd-numbered games, defending-attacking drills, and afterwards the session came to a close with a practice match on a small-side pitch.
