The Atleti defender was given the trophy at the Czech football awards ceremony
On Monday 7 February, the Czech Republic awards ceremony was held in Prague. During the show, Atlético de Madrid defender Tomas Ujfalusi, who was present at the ceremony, received recognition from his countrymen as the third best Czech footballer of 2010, finishing behind only Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky. These trophies were handed out after a popular vote in which 30,000 people took part.
Therefore, the great year had by the Atlético de Madrid footballer, undoubtedly one of the best of his career, was acknowledged. It should be recalled that, at his 32 years of age, the two titles won with the ‘rojiblanco’ squad in 2010 were his first European trophies and he was one of the pillars of success achieved by the Club.
Present at the awards ceremony were celebrities of world football such as the President of FIFA, Joseph Blatter, and legendary Portuguese player Eusebio. Even Pelé wanted to partake in the festivities via a video to congratulate another one of the people who was being paid tribute in the ceremony, historic Czech footballer Josef Maopust, the 1962 World Cup finalist and Golden Ball winner of that year.
