Tiago: 'This is the best squad I've been part of in the two years I've been at Atletico'

Tiago Cardoso Mendes said in the press room that he sees a stronger Atletico Madrid than in previous years and that they must be confident, although the results have not been what the players and fans hoped for in this first half of the championship. In contrast, in the Europa League the team has been performing better and is level with Udinese first place in the group.   The Portuguese player said: 'we are fully aware of who we are, and what we do. When we won those two games in a row along with the clean sheets everyone was saying it’s a great Atleico side, but we were aware that it would be difficult. To be up in the top four we have to win every game. We have to keep fighting and winning points.'   He stressed the quality of the group 'We're a young team, under construction, with great experienced players and young people as well. This squad is the best I've been part of in the two years I've been at Atletico. I think we will continue to get better.” Regarding the rotation of the squad by the Atletico coach, he said: 'The players have to adapt and take advantage of the opportunities we have when we play and help the team.'   As for the latest results, Tiago said that 'in the Europa League we had a good the result because we did not lose in France and a draw there is not bad. It is true that against Sevilla at home could have done more than draw. Winning this game was very important but so is the football. We played well, we created more chances than them but we must stay the same, try to have control of the game and score goals because that’s the only way we will win.'   The midfielder notes that 'it shows in the games we've played against Valencia and Sevilla that we were superior to them, we have not suffered much, and this gives us confidence for the matches to come. As a team we are stronger.'   As to whether there is a dependence on Falcao because when the Colombian hasn’t scored, the team has not won, he said ' A team cannot rely on a player and I'm sure others will try to score.
