Tiago: “The derby is just another League match and against a very strong rival”
Tiago Cardoso Mendes appeared before the media at the end of Friday’s training. He talked about the upcoming match, the change in parts in attack and Cerci, their new teammate.
Next Saturday 13th, the League resumes with a derby at the Bernabeu. Tiago commented, "It’s just another League game and against a very strong rival. They are two complicated weeks because we are missing many people and it’s always good to have everyone to prepare for these matches. We’re going to seek the three points even though we know that we’ll be facing a super team. We’re working strongly and well physically to get to this match in top shape. We’re delighted to play against these teams. It’s another opportunity to go to the Bernabeu. We don't have much to lose. We have to enjoy this match and try to win the three points".

Regarding his situation of having left at the end of last season and returning in the pre-season, he said "It’s been a complicated summer for me. At the end of the season I received a very good offer as a player and for the future. It made me think about changing but the most important thing was to feel important in the Club and the Cholo told me that he expected me at the following training. From that moment I only thought on going back on the chance of wearing this shirt again. I’m very happy and grateful to the Club, the players and the coaching staff to be back. And I'm going to give my all on the field, as always".
With respect to what the fans think, he said, "Everyone who’s come to talk with me is happy that I’m here. I thank their support very much. When I played the Super Cup I was very well received. I had no doubts because they know how I feel about the Club. I had other options which were better economically, but if I’m here it’s not for the money, but because I feel these colors. I feel loved in the Club".
Regarding Cerci, the latest red and white addition, he noted, "We know his characteristics and his football. He comes to provide his quality. He has to adapt very quickly because we’re competing. We’ll try to help him because he has to adapt to the team and us to his playing style. We look forward to seeing the best Cerci very soon. He comes to bring us quality and everything that comes with quality is good for the team. It brings lot of competition at the top and we can all improve".
