Tiago rejoins the group work at Saturday’s training

Juanito attended Cerro del Espino to say goodbye to his teammates

Tiago Mendes was the grand novelty in Saturday’s training at the Sports Complex. The Portuguese player has recovered from the injury he suffered against Racing de Santander and participated in all of the exercises, so he will be available against Mallorca if Quique Sánchez Flores decides to play him.

On the other hand, Juanito appeared at the end of the work session to say goodbye to his teammates after terminating his contract with the ‘rojiblanco’ organization earlier this week.

Quique Sánchez Flores drew up a varied training for the entire squad, with several players doing alternative work in the gym, although towards the end of the practice they also carried out a special session on the pitch.

De Gea didn’t do specific work with goalkeeping coach Emilio Álvarez, though Joel and Andrés, Atlético B goalkeeper, did. The starting ‘rojiblanco’ netminder took the pitch later, alongside Alberto Perea, Agüero and Borja González, to work under the orders of Óscar Pitillas, the first squad physical trainer/physical therapist.

Domínguez, Filipe Luis, Ujfalusi, Assunçao, Reyes, Juanfran and Forlán did alternative work with Miguel Peiró, and then did specific work with Jordi García. The Atlético head coach, after a warm-up and small-sided keepaway, focused on tactical ball work with those who started the session, including ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. On one side were Valera, Perea, Godín, Antonio López, Koke, Raúl García, Tiago, Elías, Fran Mérida and Diego Costa. The keepers received the ball at the end of each play, taking turns in goal. Juanfran and Forlán later entered for Koke and Fran Mérida.

Afterwards, the players completed a drill composed of quick touches in a small area and finishing, and finished with crosses and shots on goal.
