Atlético de Madrid came out to the field of Riazor with very clear ideas. They wanted to score soon, as it happened in Córdoba, to handle the match at will. And it turned out perfectly. Griezmann, who is still in a state of grace in this second round of play, opened the tin with a spectacular bicycle kick before a surprised Fabricio 5 minutes into the game. Then, on 22 minutes, once again, the Frenchman took advantage of a long throw-in by Gámez that was not properly cleared by Sidnei.
In the second half the script remained the same. Atlético commanded and had more chances to finally sentence the fixture with a third goal. But in a sudden play of Sidnei, Oriol Riera managed to score 12 minutes before the end and spiced up a match that had clear red and white colour to it. However, Atlético de Madrid was able to manage the advantage to achieve an important victory which makes them consolidate in third place and overtake Valencia by four points with the results of this round.
