The ten magical Red & White nights against English teams
Our team, since playing Leicester City in the Cup Winner’s Cup in '62, has faced English teams 13 times in different European knockout rounds, having overcome 10 of them.
Our team will face Manchester City in the quarterfinals of this edition of the Champions League. The citizens will be a new European obstacle for our team, who have reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League after overcoming Manchester United.
The one against City will be a new confrontation between our team and an English club, making it the fourteenth European knockout round that we will face a team from the cradle of football, having overcome 10 of the 13 played so far.
- 61/62 Season | Leicester City | European Cup Winners' Cup Round of 16
Leicester City was the first English team we played against in a European knockout round. Our team qualified in a hard-fought series that was decided at the Metropolitano Stadium. In the first leg, played at the City Stadium, a goal by Mendonça after 88 minutes neutralized Keyworth's goal, while in the second leg we won 2-0 with Collar and Jones as scorers in the round of 16 of a Cup Winners' Cup that we would end up winning to add to our trophy cabinet the first European title in our history.
- 91/92 season | Manchester United | European Cup Winners' Cup Round of 16
Our team faced Manchester United for the first time in history in the 92 Cup Winners' Cup. In a match that pitted Luis Aragonés against Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red & White team won 4-1 on aggregate after a 3-0 win at the Vicente Calderón and a 1-1 draw at the Theatre of Dreams in the second leg.
- 97/98 Season | Leicester City | UEFA Cup Round of 32
The UEFA Cup of '98 saw us face Leicester City once again. The team coached by Radomir Antic defeated the English team in the two matches of the series, achieving a place in the Round of 32 where PAOK awaited us. Juninho and Vieri turned around Marshall's early goal at the Vicente Calderón, a result that was certified after the 0-2 second leg in Leicester with goals by Juninho and Kiko.
- 97/98 season | Aston Villa | UEFA Cup Quarterfinals
Aston Villa was our second English opponent of the season after Leicester. Atleti won the tie after beating the english club at home by 1-0 thanks to a Vieri's goal from a penalty in the 42nd minute of the first leg. In the second leg, Aston Villa won 2-1, but the goal scored by Caminero after 11 minutes was enough to qualify thanks to the double value of away goals.

Diego Forlán's solitary goal after 9 minutes of the first leg made our team travel to Anfield with an advantage in the tie. Aquilani's goal sent the match into extra time, and Benayoun, after 95 minutes, gave the English side the lead. However, in the 116th minute, another goal by Forlán sealed our passage to the final in Hamburg where, in the end, we would win our first Europa League.

Stamford Bridge was the scene of our second ever qualification to a Champions League final after a 0-0 draw in the first leg. Our team, with goals from Diego Costa, Adrián and Arda Turan, came from 1-3 down to qualify for the final.
- Season 16/17 | Leicester City | Champions League Quarterfinals
Our third European knockout stage clash against Leicester City took place in the 16/17 season. Griezmann's goal from eleven yards in the first leg allowed us to travel to England with a lead that, after a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium, helped us reach the Champions League semifinals.

Our team became Europa League champions in the 2017/18 season. Before lifting the trophy to the sky of Lyon, the red-and-whites had to overcome Arsenal in the semifinals in a tie that remained for the memory. In the first leg, Simeone's side held out with 10 players for 83 minutes, earning a 1-1 draw that was made good at the Wanda Metropolitano after the 1-0 final score.

19/20 season - Liverpool FC - Champions League Round of 16
Anfield was the scene of a comeback that will remain in the collective memory of all the Red & White fans. Our team turned around a score that was 2-0 in the fourth minute of extra time to finish 2-3 and the pass flew to Madrid with our expedition.

Our team won the ticket to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in a vibrant tie in which we overcame Manchester United. The tie was defined at Old Trafford.
