The ‘rojiblancos’ hold their final training session of the season

Plenty of absences to wrap things up before the friendly against Alcorcón

The Atlético de Madrid squad said farewell to the 2010-11 season with a final training session at the Majadahonda Sports Complex on the pitch where the reserves play their games. The practice was marked by good temperature and the presence of the fans in the stands, who were able to enjoy watching players such as Antonio López, Valera or Fran Mérida try their hand as goalkeepers, for example, or see how netminder Joel ended up as the morning’s leading scorer with two beautiful goals.

Missing this final training were Forlán, in an act with Paf, one of Atlético’s sponsors, in Stockholm, and Agüero and Elías, who took early holidays as they get ready to play in the Copa América. The international players who did take part were Godín and Perea, who did alternative work with Oscar Pitillas, alongside Sergio Asenjo. Koke was also missing, as he’s in camp with the Under-19 National Team. Additionally, De Gea, Domínguez, Reyes and Diego Costa underwent routine, end-of-the-season medical check-ups.

The 14 players who practiced began with some 4v2s, while Emilio Álvarez did work with Joel and the ‘temporary goalkeepers’, Antonio López, Fran Mérida and Valera. All 14 plus the coaching staff and physical trainer Gorka played in the practice match. In bibs were: Valera; Filipe, Quique, Raúl García, Emilio Álvarez, Fran Escribá, Juanfran, Assunçao, Joel and Noguera. And without bibs were: Antonio López; Jordi, Ujfalusi, Miguel Peiró, Alberto Perea, Gorka, Pulido, Mario, Fran Mérida and Borja. In the end, those without bibs were victorious and celebrated their win at the end of the training session.
