Goals from Saúl and Arda decided an even match against a Deportivo that did not lose face at any time. Once more, the strategic actions were decisive for our team to earn the fifth consecutive victory in the League at the Vicente Calderón.
At the very beginning of the game, Mandžukić had a great opportunity to open the scoreboard. The Croatian rose between two defenders but his shot crashed on the post. Our team kept trying and close to half-time Saul scored for Atlético with a header to the far post. Mandžukić sent to the home-grown player a foul bounced by Koke to score the first goal of the morning.
Atlético’s team sought to sentence the match from minute one of the second half. That's how Arda took advantage of a clearing of Deportivo’s defence to put the 2-0 on the scoreboard with a volley from the front.
