THOUSANDS OF FAN CELEBRATED WITH THE CUP CHAMPIONS

The party was at Neptune

Madrid was painted red and white. Thousands of Atletico fans took to the streets of the capital of Spain as the champions celebrated the Cup title won at the Bernabeu.

The Atleti bus carrying the squad, coaches and executives left the Vicente Calderon stadium at 17.45 setting off in the direction of the Community of Madrid council building, in Puerta del Sol Ignacio Gonzalez, president of the Community, received the delegation at the doors of the building. The captains of the football and handball teams Gabi and José Javier Hombrados, accompanied by Enrique Cerezo, the Atletico president, offered the cup from the balcony of the headquarters of the Community of Madrid sharing the cup with the fans packed in to the centre of the city.

From the City Hall, the procession followed the route through the streets of the capital and the second stop was the Palacio de Correos building in the Plaza de la Cibeles, Madrid where they met with the mayor Ana Botella at 19.15.

 Neptune Square was filled as the evening progressed, where DJ Carlos Jean was encouraging and warming up the party until 20.08 hours when the crowd exploded with the arrival of their champions. The first to take the stage were the players of Atletico Madrid Handball, with JJ Hombrados at the head.

Then it was time for the idols of the 'tenth'. One by one, with the fans chanting their name, all of the first team players made their way around the Neptune Fountain. The captain Gabi addressed all present: "This is for all of you." Simeone then acknowledged the support and affection of the fans: "We did what we had to do: win and win at the Bernabeu. We must believe."

At 2050 hours, Gabi crowned climbed to the top of Neptune and put the flag around the neck and scarf in the trident. A moment and image for history. Thank you to the fans.
