The intense rain marks Thursday’s training at the Majadahonda Sports Complex

Agüero provides the scare of the day, but finishes the session without problems

Atlético de Madrid continued to prepare for this Saturday’s match against Zaragoza. The ‘rojiblancos’ completed a session which lasted a little over an hour-and-a-half and was marked by the rain. A heavy shower welcomed the players on the pitch at the Majadahonda Sports Complex, but fortunately eased up as the practice wore on.

Sergio Agüero caused the alarms to go off half-hour into the training, as he was attended to after receiving a tough challenge during the technical-tactical drills. However, he walked it off and was able to complete the session without problems. Four Atlético de Madrid B (Vítor, Regalón, Roberto and goalkeeper Andrés) and two from Atlético C (Abel and goalkeeper Celso) took part in the session. Mario Suárez and Luis Perea did specific work with Miguel Peiró at the beginning, as did Borja González later, as the young striker took the pitch after the rest of his teammates to do rehab work with Oscar Pitillas. Antonio López headed to the dressing room before the others with the coach’s permission.

The squad began the training with some light running and then moved into technical-tactical drills with goalkeepers. Afterwards, they did strength exercises with Jordi García, the physical trainer. The day continued with technical-tactical work in small areas with two small-sided games, and was wrapped up with a practice match across the width of the pitch. On one team were: Celso; Ujfalusi, Perea, Domínguez, Filipe Luis; Reyes, Tiago, Raúl García, Elías; Fran Mérida and Diego Costa. And facing them were: Joel; Valera, Pulido, Godín, Regalón; Juanfran, Assunçao, Mario Suárez, Koke; Agüero and Forlán.
