The Inca champions will be a test

The second stop on our tour of South America will be Lima, Peru. There we will dispute the third preseason game against Sporting Cristal. It will be on Thursday, August 1st at 3.00 in the morning in Spain (20.00 local time in Peru) with one of the strongest teams in the Latin American country.

Founded on December 13th, 1955, Sporting Cristal was crowned champions of Peruvian Football in their first appearance which has led them to being known as the team that was "born champion." Since its inception, the club has never been relegated to the Second Division of Peru and they are the second most decorated club in the professional era. In 1997 they were on the verge of giving Peru the only Copa Libertadores in its history, but wese defeated in the final by Brazilian Cruzeiro 1-0 on aggregate.

Our clash will be played at the National Stadium in Peru, with capacity for 50,000 spectators. A Coliseum, which opened in 1952. This building houses all games disputes by the Peruvian national team, as well as all the largest sporting and musical event held in the country.

The club have a packed trophy cabinet with 16 Peruvian First Division titles as well as 2 Torneo Apertura, 4 Clausura Tournament, 2 Pre-Libertadores Liguillas, 4 Peru Regional Championships -Regional Tournaments Zone and 1 Torneo Metropolitano.

They are currently coached by Roberto Mosquera, a coach with great experience and who represented Peru as a player in the 1978 World Cup.

Current champion of his country, they won the Decentralized Championship in 2012 while in the last Copa Libertadores they were eliminated in the group stage.

Lima is the capital city of the Republic of Peru and is located on the central coast of the country, along the Pacific Ocean forming an urban area known as the Lima Metropolitan Area. Located 101 meters above sea level, it has an area of 130 kilometers of beaches and coasts. Today it is the political, cultural, commercial and financial center of Peru. Globally, Lima ranks fifth in the most populated cities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

It houses about 8 and a half million inhabitants and with its historical legacy was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A great city waiting to Atletico with open arms.
