The Atlético de Madrid Academy continues standing strong. The training work done by the lower levels of our Club is rewarded every summer with the presence of several players in the first team’s pre-season. Their aim is none other than to follow the steps of Gabi, Mario Suárez, Koke, Saul or Manquillo.

Up to nine home-grown players have been called by Diego Pablo Simeone to join the ranks of the first team during the pre-season stage that takes place in Segovia, in the town of Los Ángeles de San Rafael. They are the goalkeeper David Gil, the defenders Nacho Monsalve and Lucas Hernández, the midfielders Borja Martínez, Iván Alejo, Samuel, Carlos Ramos, Xu Xin and the forward Héctor Hernández.

However, and despite their youth, not all can be considered newcomers in the changing room of the first team. David Gil, Nacho Monsalve and Ivan, already exercised under Simeone’s orders during the last pre-season, while Carlos Ramos and Héctor made their debut in the King’s Cup match against Sant Andreu (2-1), where the latter scored a goal. Lucas Hernández, despite not having made his debut, was part of the team called to travel to Villarreal.
